I had weighed 79kg for many years, which was still overweight but I thought I didn’t look too bad. Then in 2008 when I went through a separation, I noticed an increase in my appetite. I was constantly ravenous and started getting hot flushes, I suspected I was going through menopause. My mum went through it at the same age, I was 34. So I went to see my doctor who thought I was too young to be going through menopause sent me for testing anyway. My doctor was shocked to let me know that I had already already in the peri-menopausal phase, but by this stage I had put 20kg on top of the already overweight 79kg in just a few months.
I tried to control my eating, make better choices, but because I became hungry very quickly I would eat anything that was readily available and so when I reached 99kg I thought I have to take greater action. I tried eating 6 meals a day but again my food choices failed me. I had to learn to cut out carbs and it was so difficult. I remembered how I managed to lose weight several years ago and decided to leave the unhealthy carbohydrates out of my eating plan. That was in December 2010. Before I started on the 21 Day Challenge I weighed 89kg. I felt I had done well but knew there were areas in my diet I could improve on and plateaued in my weight loss. I would follow my eating plan all week but when it came to the weekends I would have absolutely no self control, so I would spend the next week trying to compensate for the weekend. When I saw the 21 Day Challenge I thought its only for 3 weekends so when our mates come round I just not have a glass of wine and lay off the junk food… only 3 weekends!!!
The first week on the 21 Day Challenge I went from 89.7kg to 87.1kg. I was amazed!!! I make a vegetable fritatta everyday, they’re delicious and I dont have think about what I’m going to eat that is within the plan, its all pre-done! I have tablespoon of nuts for morning tea and an apple for an afternoon snack. Sometimes when I’m still hungry after eating, I just have another slice of fritatta. I also switch it up sometimes for dinner, I may have salmon with broccoli and pumpkin or perhaps chicken with mixed veggies, but I also watch my portions.
I wish to say thank you so much for teaching me how to lose weight in a healthy way. I’ve tried so many other eating plans, some do work but the transition was extreme. The challenge has been great for me because I eat proper food and as long as I can prepare my meals in advance, I will stay on track.
Kind regards
Melissa

Hi, I am on day 10 and so far I have lost 3.9kg. Although it is a challenge, I am amazed at how easy the programme is to stick to. I had no idea I love feta cheese, and that I can live without bread, pasta, potatoes and rice. I still crave sweet things, even though I am not hungry, and struggle daily without my favourite Milo. I don’t drink tea or coffee so Milo was it! I am really changing the way I think about our family meals and we have saved at least the cost of the body blitz in groceries this week just by not buying processed foods. Who said it was more expensive to eat healthy? Thanks for the downloads and emails, they are really helpful.

Hi Damian and Phyllis,β¨ firstly I want to say thank you for such an amazing and effective program! I was able to achieve incredible results by following the 21 day Body Blitz Challenge. In late July I was diagnosed with dangerously high blood pressure as a result of unhealthy lifestyle habits consisting mainly of being overweight (topping 100kgs), bad food, alcohol, and running myself into the ground. Following Damianβs advice, I started following the program. After about 3 to 5 days of eating the recipeβs and exercising as prescribed, I started to feel much better, with LOADS more energy! Within the first week, I lost 4 kgβs which really inspired me to keep going. By the end of the 21 day program I lost 12 kgβs!! and feel 10 years younger! My blood pressure has dropped from 190/100 to 147/70!
After finishing the program I have continued to make healthy food choices with Damianβs help!)and kept up an exercise regime have lost another 3kgs!! Thank you so much guys for the amazing program and fantastic support! I couldnβt have done it without you!!

To Damian and Phyllis,
I can’t believe this but it’s been 5 days in and i’ve lost 1.8kg. Man it feels good. I feel soo happy that this is working and it’s the first time i’ve managed to lose more than just .2 or .5 of a kg in a long time. Still wanting to eat bread, or choc every now and again but getting used to it all.
Thanks,

Hi there
My 18 year old daughter and I just love the programme. I have lost over 4kgs, with 8kgs to go, my daughter only needed to lose about 3-4kgs, which she has done. I have been trying to lose the 12 extra kg’s for a couple of years.
Since beginning we haven’t experienced any IBS symptoms, we have both have lost weight and feeling great! It’s just so easy and rewarding.
My daughter said to me the other day….I am going to continue eating this way mum, it really suits me, I’ll just add in some carbs to maintain.
Thanks so much!

Hi Guys
Just wanted to touch base and let you know how I’ve done with the 21 day program
I started on the 1st of August and found the program easy to follow and was very filling. Using the principals of the hand for each meal just made it so simple to follow.
Well after the 3 weeks I had lost 4.7kgs in weight and better still, have had my appetite for exercise awakened. I now walk every weekday morning for an hour. I’ve not lost much more weight (currently sitting at 70) but the selft esteem and pride is through the roof. I have also added some good carbs to my day.
Thanks so much for showing me a simple way to eat, that is not really a diet but a sustainable way of life.
Yours sincerely

I have just completed my first week on the 21 day challenge!! It has been relatively easy and the food has been easy to prepare and been yummy!! I got a surprise this morning for my first weight in!! I have lost 4.6 kilos!! Which is great!! Though my measurements have stayed the same so I must have been holding alot of fluid!! Hopefully the cm’s will start coming off over the next 2 weeks.
I weighed in again today being the end of my 2nd week and I have lost another 1.5 kilos so thats over 6 kilos in 2 weeks and have started to lose cms now which is noticeable in my jeans!! Had lots of comments on how good I look and that my face looks thinner of all things hehe.
Many thanks

Hi Damian,
I’m on Day 9 of the Challenge. I have been trying to get back under 60 kg for nearly the past year and I have eventually made it!!! My weight has been varying between 60.5-63kg for the last 12 months and I have tried dieting, mainly through the new WeightWatchers program. I don’t have much to loose only around 5-6kg but I haven’t been able to shift it until nowβ¦..
I know that you shouldn’t weight yourself every day, but I just can’t resist with this diet. Everytime I jump on the scales in the morning I have lost more weight! This morning I made it down to 59.4kg!!!! I am SO HAPPY!!!
The weight loss had been steady, around 3-400g per day. Thanks so much for the program! I will more than happy to send some before and after photos when I’ve finished. I hope that the progress continues to be steady to reach my goal of 55kg!
Thank you very much!

Dear Damian and Phyllis,
I just want to share my 21 day challenge and beyond. I returned from living in Belfast, Northern Ireland in July 2010 more than 2 1/2 stone heavier than when I left New Zealand 18 months earlier. I ran into a friend who had completed the 112 day challenge and he looked amazing! After Christmas I was really sick of the way I looked and both my husband and I felt really unwell, we were desperate.
The doctor diagnosed me as having high cholesterol of 6.8 and my husband as being borderline pre diabetic. Our income is on the lower end of the scale so I purchased the 21 day challenge. I weighed 86.8 kg at the beginning of the challenge and lost 7 kg by the end of it. Now 12 weeks later I have lost 2 stone by just increasing the foods I believe my body needs to fuel it. My husband has always been a big lad at 6 ft 4, and we don’t really know how much he has lost as only recently he began registering on the scales (150kg limit).
But he has had to pack away all the 5XL shirts and is now wearing 3XL. We are both dieters from way back but the way we eat now is so simple using the palm and hand method. Best investment I ever made in those 21 days! Regards

I lost 6kg in 21 days and could have lost even more if I had added in exercise. Ifound I was eating more on the detox than I would usually. After two days all my cravings had disappeared and I found I wasn’t getting in a ‘frenzy’ around mealtimes. I no longer had issues with belching, wind, bloating, and acid reflux. I received so many comments from people saying how healthy my skin looked.
The detox was a great way to start the New Year. After the first week I took magnesium oxide for a few days. I would highly recommend taking this as for me I felt like I had been given a fresh start and was

inside and out π
I highly recommend the program, it is completely safe and there are no gimmicks. You eat natural healthy foods; I even discovered some new foods I hadn’t tried before and now include these in my daily diet.

I’ve just completed day 11 of the challenge and I’m loving it. On completion of day 7 I weighed in 3Kg lighter. Yippee.
I’ve found the eating plan so easy to follow. I’m being completely unadventurous as I’m focussed on it only being 21 days. I’m interested in the 112 day challenge so must read up about it and see if it is for me.
Thanks Damian and Phyllis for a great program and very inspirational encouragement.

Hi Damian and Phyllis, Just a quick note to let you know that the 21 day challenge is great!
I started the challenge during study break and it did make essay writing an extra challenge without being able to snack on junk! I’m two weeks into it and not that my main aim was weight loss but I’ve lost 2cm off each thigh and 3cm off my waist. My main aim was to feel happier and healthier inside and have more energy, all of which have definitely been achieved. It has also changed my view on junk food that no longer appeals at all!
So I just wanted to say Thanks!

Hi guys,It’s great to see everyone is doing so well. I am doing the challenge this month for the second time; I did the first challenge b4 Christmas. I had great success in the first challenge, although in the 3rd week, I only lost 0.8kg because I was at my parents’ house for that week of the holidays and despite best intentions, and taking my own food, I was not in complete control of my own meals and found it difficult. So after I got back home, I did the last week again (which would have been week 5) and in total for my 3 weeks I lost 8-9 kilos. (I like to say 9, but my weight fluctuates daily.) (You can see by the total weight loss, why I knew that .8kg in one week wasn’t on par with the earlier 2 weeks.)
Now I am doing it for the 2nd time and I am on day 3 and I have hit the 60β²s! Meaning I am no longer 70 point something kgs, I am below 70! Woot! I love this diet, it is healthy, energising and it works. I am never going to be above 70kg again. I grew up skinny and believe it or not used to take weight gain protein powder, as a young adult to try and gain weight because of how skinny I was. Once I got ill, over time I gained and gained and then it got out of control. Once I reached a tipping point, nothing I did could get rid of the weight. My doctor diagnosed me with polycystic ovaries (among other things) and said that in that condition, my body likes to be overweight and tries to keep me that way. I have been trying to lose weight for the last 3 years, and when I tried this and actually had some results and the fat came of so fast I was so impressed. I have a ‘doo’ in 3 weeks and am hoping to wear a dress that I last wore on my 25th birthday. (I turn 35 soon).
I write this because I want to encourage people to really stick to the diet and really believe in themselves. I am not a confident person and my weight and illnesses have made me even less confident, but I think I have had such success on this diet, that I want people who have been or are like me, to really understand that things can get better. Although as I write about how good I am doing it feels like bragging. And I totally understand that many people are fighting a weight gain much higher than my own.
I found that I lost quite a significant amount in the first few days and I put that towards the complete removal of salt. (I love salt) This time around I haven’t done the gut prep stuff, because I haven’t been eating bad in the interim since the last time I did the diet and I don’t think I need too. (I hope that’s right).
I also found once not on the diet that breads and cereals don’t work very well with me, they make me lethargic and upset in the tummy. Something I never noticed before, so I think I may have an intolerance, therefore I steer clear of them 95% of the time.
Thank you so much Damian and Phyllis! and Phyllis I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you on your email back in January!
Start Weight before Christmas 79.9kgs today’s weight 69.8kgs. And this is the most impressive part, 16cms of my stomach, (yes that’s right 16cms!) and 6cms of each of my thighs.
Oh and I actually go to the beach and ‘run’ (only a little bit with walking in between, because I’m totally unfit, but I haven’t ‘run’ since I was about 18.
I would do a before and after photo, but quite frankly I’ve avoided the camera for 3 years. Although I could show my awful, awful passport photo!
Cheers Everyone!

Hi there Damian and Phyllis, This is day five of the 21 day challenge and I just wanted to share the fact,
I’ve already lost 2.6kg. My clothes feel better around the waist and Idefinitely feel a bit brighter.I never thought I’d be able to live without bread! Proudest accomplishment to-date … surviving dinner out for a mate’s 40th. Ordered a grilled chicken salad, avoided the starters and said no to the birthday brownie and booze. Drank soda water with a couple of slices of lemon and still had a great time. I focused on the company rather than the food.
Thanks for the great programme, it’s the kick up the bum I needed. I’d given up watching what I ate. Am now back in the driving seat and I think that’s very empowering in it’s self.

So far I have lost 2kgs and am hoping for another kg tomorrow when I weigh myself! I have not been under 72.3kgs in a probably 3 years but a week ago when I weighed myself I was 72! I do karate for exercise (plus I love it) and train about 4 – 5 hrs a week – although not all strenuous – is this enough or should I be doing more? I do walk every day but not much – probably 20 minutes.

I have just signed up for the 21 day challenge. I am one of those people who start a weight loss programme and then for some unexplicable reason give up when I start loosing weight.
This programme interested me because of the downloads that might help keep me motivated. For me it is a mind thing. I can do it I just have to work out the mental problems that keep sabotaging my weight loss.
I am slightly worried about the meals. I am a fussy eater, i don’t realy like fish or eggs but I love vege’s. So I am going to try and work out my own meals with the portion thing ( palm of my hand and all that).
I am a bit gutted about the no alcohol. I am not a big drinker but I recdently found a sweet wine that I have really been enjoying. I shouldn’t be too distressed though as that wine has in no doubt contributed to me needing to do this challenge ha ha.
Hi there Terase π its only 21 days – go as hard as you can! Focus on what you can do and have – not what you can’t.
Hi Damian and Phyllis,
I have just signed up to the 21 day challenge and am looking forward to better health!
I am 30 this year and have been struggling with my weight for a long time (although i never knew it until now)! I have looked at several programmes and have found the 21 day challenge best suits me for rapid weight loss. I will then be interested in joining the 112 day challenge and would love to get more information regaurding this.
I work 8-4 Mon to Fri and have a gorgeous 23 week old son in which whom i devote alot of my time to when not working. Being busy i have found i dont take the time to sit and have a meal, and when i do it is not always the healthiest choice.
Therefore i have made it my challenge to eat to live, not live to eat!!
Hi there
I’m confused. I wonder how I am supposed to be able to exercise without any complex carbohydrates? I have talked to a trainer at my gym and she told me to be careful and to watch myself.
Can you please advise?
Thanks!
don’t be confused – it works… you don’t need complex carbs to exercise.
Hi Damian,
I’m a student and can’t afford to spend lots at the supermarket so I was wondering if the menu planner you have provided could be used in a slightly different way? I think for me it would be more reasonable if breakfasts, lunches and snacks remained relatively the same every day of the week and if 3-4 of the dinners (as I cook alone and have leftovers) were used over the week. Is this going to have the same effect as having every meal different i.e. will I still be getting all the nutrients I need?
Thanks,
Charlotte.
Hi there Charlotte – that is absolutely fine! π you can move all the meals around, choose the ones you like and be selective if you need. The guide is a guide – it offers you great suggestions and ideas π
Hi, I’m not much of a cook, so how do poach the apple & frozen blue berries from the winter menu? And also the Frittata – how do you cook this? Thanks Angela
hi there Angela – poached fruit – peel the fruit and simmer in water for 30-40 mins – this is best prepared the night before – i like to simmer mine with berries and a cinnamon stick/quill so that i make a compote of berries at the same time. its beautiful.
There is a frittata recipe on the members download pages π its easy as.
cheers
Damian
I can vouch for the fritata recipe. its the easiest and nicest one I have ever made. I love the feta in it.
Hi Damian
How do you use the compote of berries? Do you just serve it with yoghurt?
Cheers
Dear Juanita,
You pour it over your poached pears or on your fresh fruit π and serve with yoghurt and nuts/seeds.
Damian
Sorry real dumb question, but how much water would you use to poach the pear/apple if you were adding berries at the same time?
about 1-1.5 cups would be fine i reckon π
Where do you find the cinannon stick/quill?
from the supermarket in the herb section π
Hi
Have just signed up.
Have 2 questions?
Are diet sodas allowed?
can you use a sugar substitue like Splenda?
You can use pure via – it comes from Stevia – this is fine – not splenda or nutrasweet.
Definitely DONT have diet drinks – they are worse for you than sugar flavoured drinks
Hi
Just been reviewing the programme overview and notice that potato or kumara not on the vege list but is part of your winter meal planner.
Is the protein/vege list all you are allowed or suggested items?
Can you therefore choose any protein/vegetable/fruit – providing it is fresh?
thanks
Sharmaine
HI there Sharmaine,
potato isn’t on the list or the menu – ‘sweet potato’ is this is kumara – you can have kumara in the meal plans
you may eat outside of the suggested list however it is my experience that you won’t get the desired results in the 21 days.
Fresh is certainly best and the listed foods are considered ideal.
cheers
Damian
I noticed that too. On day 4 of the summer meal planner it does say “jacket potato and the foods lists definately do not include potato or kumara. Only carbs there are fruit and pumpkin. So either the list needs to be updated or the meal plans do?
Hey Charlie and any one else who reads this. You are correct about the potato – this is an error – it should be a sweet potato in its jacket. however if you want a little potato/spud that is fine. this program the way it is has helped people consistently lose between 3 and 7 kilos over the past 3 years. its all good to follow the plan or work from the food list.
what is the crunchy bean combo which is on the meal planner (and how do you make it)?
Hey Caroline,
the crunchy bean combo is like sprouts – you will find them in the sprout section of the super market π
kindest regards
Damian
Hi there
I have a question regarding acceptable breakfasts. I’m not going to have time to poach eggs every morning, is there an acceptable cereal or is porridge ok for our cold NZ mornings?
Thanks
Hey Jess,
There is a cereal that you can use – it won’t work as well on this program but it can be used. it is called WBC – in NZ it is available only through Chiropractors. I would prefer that you make 10mins in the morning to make your breaky… doesn’t take that long.
cheers
Damian
I just boil a bunch of eggs and have them in the fridge. Then it take no time to mix up some vegies and 2 eggs. yum!
excellent! thats the way π
Awesome! Love boiled eggs, thanks π
Hi
Looking forward to starting the 21 day challenge, just a small concern, Is this diet ok to do while still breast feeding?
Hey there Sally – this program stimulates RAPID fat loss and this is not ideal for babies breast feeding. it can be done – just eat a little bit more food about 20% more. alternatively – if you have a bit of weight to lose – our 112 day challenge is the best one to do as i will tailor your program to meet you individual requirements.
damian
Thanks Damian,
Started today, and will continue on with the challenge and add an extra 20%. I’m in the mind set to lose weight and get healthy so there is no turning back now.
thanks
Sal
excellent!
Hey
I’ve just signed up and waiting on the magnesium oxide and uroplex before I start.
I work shift work which includes night shift 6-9 times a month. I would normally eat breakfast about 5am so when I get home at 7.30 I can sleep for 4-7 hours depending on whether I can sleep or not that day then eat lunch which is normally 2pm and dinner about 9pm, would that still work with this program or what would you suggest? Do I eat the snacks in the night?
Thanks
HI the Sandra π yeah that will work. just eat the same amount of meals as you would for being awake normal hours. 3 meals or 6 small meals per day. if you need to snack that is fine – but if you are burning fat you shouldn’t be hungry at all.
Hi Damian, I am one of those poor sods who gets a headache if I don’t have carbs. I am totally willing to try your plan for 21 days but I do wonder what your stance is on low GI carbs. I am fond of kidney beans and hummus and am curious what you think of these foods. I thought them to be healthy, nutritious carbs.
Hey Charlie,
love beans and kidney beans etc – they are great. you can include them in the program – but you may not get the same sort of results that you might expect. they are certainly healthy and nutritious and they have carb and protein in them.
Damian
Hi
I have just signed up for the 21 day challenge, excited to see how I go. I have everything ready and tonight I am going out with 2 girl friends for my final wine before I start tomorrow morning. Just wondering with the menu plan which I am basically going to follow exactly, can I swap day ones lunch for day twos or does that throw things out any in way?
I think I will find it easier if I just follow what you have written up, apart from maybe changing one meal on one day for anothers. Thanks Pauline
ps wish me luck…..
HI there Pauline,
Thank you! π have a great time! please let us know how you go π
Damian
Hi I am onto Day 3 and doing well. Although its the weekend and I normally have some wine, so its hard but good for me I know. Just a question, is it ok to have Coke Zero. I don’t normally have that, but thought it would at least make me feel like I am having something nice for Saturday evening seen as I am not going to have any wine.
Thanks Pauline
Hi there Pauline – i wouldn’t touch fizzy drinks with artificial sweetener in them they will affect your health and weight loss significantly. but why don’t you try soda water with fresh lime?
Damian
Hi there,
I went to Health 2000 today in search for the magnesium oxide powder (which they didn’t have) and instead gave me Mg lax.
It has 400mg of magnesium oxide per capsule and they say take 4 capsules 3x daily for 3 days.
Will this work the same as magnesium oxide? I.e. should i take a couple before bed as you suggest with the magnesium oxide powder or should i follow the instructions the Mg lax gives?
Or is it useless altogether?
Sorry for all the questions.
Thanks, Katherine
Hi there Katherine,
its hard to say about tablets – because you don’t know what the tableting agents do to hydration or if they affect absorption. The powder is a 5gm dose – the tablets are a 400mg dose – this is some 12 times less potent. You can buy the colon clear from the website.
Thanks
Damian
Hi Guys
I have downloaded the info and watched through some of the videos but I just had a few questions before I start (which I plan to do on august 1st).
Firstly kumera and pumpkin (butternut) are not included in the list of foods to eat but yet they are included in the eating plan (can’t recall if its winter or summer but kumera is on there somewhere) and the frittata recipe has butternut in it, so am I too assume that even though those two items are not on the list that they are fine to eat?
Secondly, can you offer any other recipes or suggestions for breakfast? I usually just eat weetbix with fruit for breakkie because it fills me up and I’m time poor in the morning so some other options/suggestions would be helpful.
Third thing, I know you say fresh but just wondering if dried fruit would be ok as well? The main thing I’m thinking is dried strawberries (but I may eat some other dried fruit along the way) as you have said its best to have a couple of strawberries and yoghurt before exercising in the morning but strawberries are so expensive at the moment and this only affects me one day a week (the rest of the week I go to the gym after dropping the kids at school).
My mum and I have decided to start the 21 days together and support each other along the way. I’m really looking forward to giving this a go.
Thank you in advance
Juanita
HI there Juanita,
thanks for the question.
You can eat according to the meal planner as it works – but i suggest that people use it as a guide not as their bible. in saying that though, many people do just use the planner. in terms of the food list – these are the foods that work the best in helping you lose weight.
Weetbix won’t cut it – the idea is to have protein, fat and carbohydrates with each of your meals. create 7-10 more mires in your morning to be able to eat a proper breakfast and you will have hours extra in your day.
dried fruit is a no no, its like lollies or candy. it needs to be fresh.
thanks
Damian
Hi Damien
My husband and I have just signed up to do the 21 day challenge. I have 8 kgs to loose but my hubby has about 35kgs. I must say when I first saw the menu plan I was a little ‘put off’ because it wasn’t food I am used to and thought it would be yuck – I was TOTALLY wrong. Thanks so much for opening our eyes to wonderful new foods and flavours, I felt like I was eating pudding for breakfast this morning!!! As his hours are all over the place and he is away from home a bit this week, we have prepared extra of the poached apple and blueberries and frozen them in large muffin tins, so all he needs to do is take out a lump, heat, add the nuts and yoghurt. I know freezing isn’t probably the best, but otherwise it’s easy to find excuses while he is away and busy. Anyway, thanks for the great start, my husband is determined to loose the weight this time, and your programme of great food is such a wonderful start.
Thank you so much Tracey! we’d love to know how you two finish up!
Damian
Hi Damien,
Just a couple of questions. The detox (four days of colon clear) is this to be done before starting the 21day eating plan, or are they done at the same time? Also, how do downloads 2-5 fit into the plan? will they be sent to me when I need to listen, or do I download and listen all at once, or over a period of time?
Thanks for your time,
Rachel
HI there Rachel,
You will be emailed to download them for sure, but you could download them all at once and play them at your leisure π
Damian
Hi there, I am starting 1 August too and am just prepping day 1’s food!
I have a question though…I plan to follow the winter meal plan (adjusting as needed) but noticed there is only fruit every other day when the apple and blueberry breakfast.
I cant remember if I read that there should be fruit every day so just wondering what you recommend there.
Thanks
HI there Janine,
you don’t need to have fruit everyday, although if you intend to exercise when you wake up – i recommend ‘BREAK FAST’ – this can be done with a strawberry and a dessert spoon of yoghurt before you head out.
Damian
Hi Damian
I have started the 21 day challenge today but have a couple of quick questions after scrolling through most of the questions on the website. Is a kiwifruit with dessertspoon yoghurt OK before exercise in the mornings if you can’t get your hands on strawberries as strawberries are not in season at the mo.
Also, I had black coffee this morning for breakfast but usually drink tea. Is black tea OK, instead?
One more question…the frittata recipe includes cream, although cream isn’t listed in the foods allowed. Is this OK in the 21 day challenge.
Thanks so much.
Hi there Shelley – no problems.
You could use 1/2 a kiwi fruit to break fast first thing in the morning. this would be great. Berries are preferable – but i understand they can be tough to get access too.
I would NEVER have coffee or tea for breakfast – FOOD first and then coffee or tea minimum 90mins later if you need it. π
All the recipes on the site can be used with this program – even if there are foods that would appear not to be on the list π
Damian
Hi Damian
Well it’s day 9 of the plan and am following it down to a T! Even managed it through the weekend without a wine so most impressed with that! Lost 3kg after the 1st week and can definitely feel it. This plan is definitely working so thank you! π My goal is to lose another 3kg if possible. My query is that I have been fairly low in energy…when I go for a run I have to walk on and off after about 20 mins. Normally I can push my way through a run, even if I do feel a little tired but I don’t seem to be unable to at the mo. Do you think I am doing something wrong as most others seem to have boundless amounts of energy? I am wondering whether I am not eating enough veges/fruit as I am only eating about a (fairly level) handful. Should I increase the quantity a bit?
Look forward to your reply.
Hi there Shelley,
please make sure you are eating enough fruit and veggies – these are SO important! you should have a lot of energy by now. try eating more veggies π
Hi all π
OK, I start the 21 day body blitz tomorrow (August 1st) and I’m excited! I’m the same as Terase, when I start to lose weight I tend to give up. Rather puzzling really. Maybe I am really just trying to prove to myself I’m capable of losing if I want to? Anyway, I only want to lose 5-8kgs, so this might be the kick in the bum I need! Lately I have been listening more to my body how I’m feeling after eating certain foods and I’m thinking I may have some sort of gluten intolerance, so these 3 weeks may be very insightful.
Anyway, I also have just a couple of questions π The booklet says 35mls of water per kg of body weight, however both the meal plans only say 25mls. Might be a small thing in the grand scheme of things, but it amounts to another 800mls for me, so if I can spend less time in the loo that’d be great! lol.
Also, not sure about the salmon. Does this mean fresh salmon from the fish counter only, or is that fresh stuff in the packets ok? And how much is a fillet? Or is any type ok, like shaved salmon, but it just needs to be a certain weight? Haha, I never buy salmon as I can find it makes me quite refluxy, so have no idea about any of this stuff.
Thanks! π
π hey Elisabeth,
have a great time – get your weight off and you will feel incredible at the same time π
drink 25mls per KG on the days you don’t exercise – on the days that you do drink 35mls/KG.
chose the freshest salmon you can get thats the best thing to do and UNDER cook it – this will help you avoid the reflux π and add lemon juice to the meal… this is a big help too.
Thanks Damian! I just have another couple of questions.
1. When it says in the booklet you can ‘snack on your choice of nuts through the day’ does this just mean at one of the 2 allocated snack times, or anytime?
2. I don’t drink coffee, but do enjoy green tea with nothing added. Is this ok and are there any other hot drinks I can have?
3. I see that sugarfree gum is ok. Is this any type, or only specific ones?
4. At lunch today on day 1 I weighed 150gms of chicken and it was quite a bit bigger than my palm. Is it always best to use the lesser of the two?
Thanks π
YOu can snack through the day Elisabeth… but it is preferable to stick primarily to 3 meals per day instead of grazing.
green tea is great – any herbal tea is fine π hot water is nice with a slice of lemon in it.
The gum is OK… its not ideal… but OK. i don’t recommend any brand because they all use NUTRASWEET and I am not a fan of that stuff.
I am happy for people to over eat protein if you are to over eat anything – so if you like you could have the 150gm of chicken… but if you want better results it may pay to stick to your palm measure. π
Damian
Great, thanks Damian! I must admit I have been peckish since about 7:30pm tonight, but I think that is because I normally would be eating in the evening after dinner. So what did I do instead? Drank a load of water and painted my nails to take my mind off it, lol. Roll on day 2!
Kia ora Damian π
I am nearing the end of day 5 and am definitely feeling better for not eating the bread, cereals etc that I used to. I’m not craving sugar really, and actually not carbs either now I think about it! Does that mean I’ve started to burn my fat reserves now? Haven’t weighed yet, am hanging out to on Monday morning. But first I have to get through a family mid-winter dinner, complete with turkey and all the trimmings! Argh!
HI there Elisabeth! thats is fantastic!!! it sounds like you are on the weigh down! let us know how you go after the weekend!
Hi Damian!
Well I weighed yesterday morning (day 8) and I’d lost 2.6kgs! Yay! Although I’m not sure how much of that is to do with my period, but I’ve also lost 2% body fat, so there must be something working right! So silly me, I have another sneaky weigh-in today (day 9) and I’ve gone up 300gms from yesterday! Weird. And I’m sticking to the plan, haven’t eaten anything else. So, I’m hoping it is one of those weird fluctuations and it’ll all be good at my next official weigh-in π
Elisabeth! that is so awesome! well done. don’t look at the scales too often! they lie! π
hi guys, I am on day 3 and am really struggling. I’m feeling yuck and craving sweet treats particularly after dinner when I normally would have a bikkie and a cup of tea. I’m feeling hungary so must be doing something wrong. The colon clense doesnt seem to be doing much either… HELP!
HI there Bronny – are you eating enough food? can you please email your food diary to Phyllis and I at info@slimyou.com
thanks
Damian
will do. Thanks π
Hi Damian, me again π
Day 11 and I’m going well, but I have a question. My bowel movements have slowed down to every 2 or 3 days, and I don’t have the colon clear. Is there anything else I could use to move things along? I had thought about prunes or kiwi crush, but I know they would be full of sugar. I’m making sure I’m drinking enough water. Is there anything else I could try?
Thanks! π
you could try prunes – but the Colon Clear is suggested for a reason π
Week 2 weigh in – Loss so far 4.2kg and 2.5% body fat π I did fall of the wagon on the weekend so I’m back on it again, and ready to go hard out for the last 7 days π
AWESOME! Elisabeth!
Hi,
I am just about at the end of my three weeks and have lost 6kg. It has been great, when I first looked at the plan I thought I would really struggle, but it has been easy and I have had lots of energy. How do you save the downloadable talks I can’t seem to save them. Also do you have a sweet recipe, I have a sweet tooth and it would be nice to have something sweet thats healthy. Loved the vegetable frittata. Thanks π for helping me off to a great start, I still have a bit to go but it has given me a great start
Well Done Wendy!!!! thats a great result! if you right click on the link and ‘save the linked file’, or if on a Mac, command click the link and ‘save the linked file as’, you will be able to download the calls.
I love fruit, yoghurt and LSA as a sweet treat – its beautiful! and very good for you. Use seasonal fruits – this is the best way to go.
Have you looked at the 112 Day Challenge yet?
Hi Damian are we allowed to have fresh juices, like vege and fruit juices made in a juicer, no added sugars?
HI there Steph,
yes you can – but you may find that it may slow down your weight loss… but it is a very long term sustainably healthy thing to do.
Hi i have just joined up have a silly question can you do winter and summer menu over ther 21 days or do you have to stick to one. Also it says a stick of cucumber how much is that. And last i dont eat celery can i use something else.
thanks
Hey Keri-Lee – WELCOME! you can follow the summer or the winter plan β and if you like you can mix it up, change protein types, mix the veggies around, have a dinner for lunch and lunch for breaky. you could also just use 2 or 3 of the dinners and have them every day if you like or one of the breakies and have that every day. a stick of celery or cucumber or carrot would be say a 6cm long slice of it cut into strips that you would find at a party… i am not sure how best to describe it click here for a picture
Hi there I started the plan this morning…. having been made redundant last night ( it wasn’t planned lol). I need something positive to focus on but $$$ are tight and it seems the only place ti get the magnesium oxide is online? Is it going to be a wasteof time without it? Can I use it later in the 21 days if I get hold of some? Gone without my latte, bread and wine today and ran/ walked for over an hour over Te Mata peak so really need this to work at this stressful time and give me that positive kick!
Thanks for the inspiration so far π
Hey Kirby,
Sorry to hear about your redundancy! thats not awesome! the colon clear can be taken at any stage – it often feels great to be clean and fresh at the start, but it is a great way to finish too.
Sounds like you are off to a great start!! great stuff π
Damian
Hi Damien
Thanks for the welcome π I ordered the magnesium from your website so will start that as soon as it arrives. I have completed Day 5 but have regressed the last 2 evenings with 2 glasses of red wine on Tuesday ( with half a tube of Pringles) then last night white wine and toast!!!
I have list 3 kg so far, exercise is going well despite lack of sleep through incessant coughing and a chest infection but my weak point is evenings. The water, soda water and green tea is fine during the day and I know it’s purely psychological at night time but would welcome any suggestions. It’s an extremely stressful time dealing with the unexpected redundancy and the ugly betrayal , job hunting and keeping positive for my 4 yr old but that’s no excuse.!
Any tips/ advice appreciated as I am determined to make a positive out of this situation!!
Thanks again
Kirby
C’mon KIRBY!!! π you can do it… its just 21 days without grog… you can do that.!
Thanks but that wasn’t massively helpful….I think your e mails are perhaps automatic too as I still haven’t received the colon clear but keep getting e mails about how good it must feel…its great you are trying to add the personal touch but its not working for me sorry.
I am losing weight, 3.5 kg on Day 6….
Hello Kirby, no need to apologise – some things work for some people and other things don’t. what we are trying to do is help you. often the number one reason people struggle is because they get in the way of themselves. the emails are intended to help you get out of the way. you may choose to read the content to help you or hinder you. our intention is to help you.
If you didn’t choose the colon clear – that is fine. it is used to help you.
Right now by expecting someone to get you out of your head space and lift you up, you are in your own way. There is great stuff in this program, there are great changes to be made to your life, your health will certainly improve if you eat this way. you are in charge of this… not any one else.
You have lost a lot of weight that is awesome. please don’t use your current circumstance to sabotage your success. i am sure, like many others, you have done this before.
Damian
Hi Damian and Phyllis
I am on day 10 and so far I have lost 3.9kg.
Thank you Alli! Great work!
Hi Damian
Can you put LSA into baking, I have been sneaking it on my childrens cereal, but would like to hide it in school lunchbox baking.
Thanks
Hi there Alli, don’t use LSA in your baking π Linseeds can’t handle the heat.
Hi guys, I am on day 8 of the challenge. And this morning weighed in at 2.6kgs less than on day 1 exactly a week ago. I had headaches, grogginess and nausea on day 3 for the entire day. I felt rotten but woke up the next morning feeling fine. Obviously I went through detox.
Loved the colon clear and my husband says my skin is looking great – I accredit it to the omega 3 oil.
A question – can I have something other than nuts as my snacks?
Oh and another question.. I am struggling with the summer breakfast combo. Avo and bean sprouts with my spinach and eggs is hard for me to stomach… But I have been doing it anyway. Are you allowed the fruit (in my case blueberries) and yogurt each morning or will I be missing some key components if I did that each day?
Thanks,
Tracey
congratulations Tracey!
you could do blueberries and yoghurt and LSA if you like – your results may alter – but you may feel better doing that as your breaky π
congratulations again!
Ever since I left home I just packed on the weight, now at 26 yrs old Im seriously overweight and needing to do something about it. The past few years Ive worked to change it, training for duathlons and fun-runs but once the events were over, it all went back on. The problem wasnt the exercise, it was the food.
Oh for the love of bread!
Finally fed up with my situation, I found this challenge and I told myself I have to do this. So I did.
Truth be told, it was more than a little daunting. The day before I started, I was reading through all the information and realised I was scared. Of what? Trying it, and most of all, scared of succeeding. However illogical, that was the truth. I was fed up with my life, yet scared of it changing – even when I told myself its not like it was going to get worse. But I guess it goes to show how powerful the fear of change can be.
My flatmate/best friend decided to join me by doing the challenge too, which makes the process easier, although it hasn’t all been easy.
Half of week 1 was plauged by nausea, headaches, cravings, and generally feeling terrible as our bodies got rid of whatever toxins they had been dealing with – we never knew that detoxing off bread would be so hard! By day 6 it had mostly cleared as we stuck with the programme.
Yesterday (day 8) we measured ourselves again (not having scales at home) and result!
I have lost 6cm from my waist and 5 from my hips. And thats only in 8 days! I was so stunned I could cry. I cant wait to see how the rest of the challenge goes.
My flatmate however, didnt have the result she was hoping for, all her measurements went up a couple of cms. Shes been feeling really bloated, and struggles drinking enough water.
Can you suggest anything that could help her?
Thats AWESOME Naomi π – i reckon your flatty should use the colon clear!
